Fighter Rules and Weight Classes
X1 follows the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts and uses the same weight class structure used by UFC. Events held on military installations operate under base command authority and approved event protocols. When events are held outside military installations, X1 follows applicable State of Hawaiʻi regulatory requirements.
Standards We Use
- Unified Rules for fouls, scoring, and referee authority.
- UFC style weight classes listed below.
- Safety first. Medical staff and officials decide participation.
Fighter Expectations
- Arrive on time for check-in, rules meeting, and weigh-ins.
- Bring valid government issued photo ID.
- Complete all paperwork and medical requirements by posted deadlines.
- Follow referee and staff instructions at all times.
Weigh-Ins and Bout Weight
- Fighters must weigh in during the official weigh-in window posted for the event.
- Weight classes below are the contracted limits for standard bouts.
- Catchweights must be approved in advance by X1 and event authority when required.
- If a fighter misses weight, X1 and event authority determine next steps. This can include bout cancellation.
Medical and Safety
- Fighters must complete required pre-fight medicals and examinations.
- Event physician and officials can deny participation for safety.
- Post-fight medical checks are required.
- Medical suspensions must be honored across events.
Equipment
- Gloves, hand wraps, and protective gear must meet event standards and official approval.
- No jewelry or piercings during competition.
- Nails must be trimmed. Hair must be secured.
- No grease, oils, or excessive lotion. Officials can require removal.
Corner Rules
- Corner personnel must follow official instructions and remain professional.
- No coaching that encourages fouls or misconduct.
- Only approved items in the corner area. Keep the area clear.
- Stopping a fight follows the referee’s direction.
Fouls and Sportsmanship
Fouls follow the Unified Rules. Officials determine warnings, point deductions, disqualification, or no contest outcomes based on severity and impact.
Common Fouls
- Eye gouging, biting, spitting.
- Groin strikes.
- Headbutts.
- Fish hooking.
- Small joint manipulation.
- Grabbing the fence.
Timing and Conduct
- Attacking after the bell.
- Timidity, stalling, refusal to engage.
- Unsportsmanlike conduct.
- Corner interference.
- Illegal strikes based on opponent position under Unified Rules.
