How Civilians Can Access Schofield Military Base

If you’re a civilian, here’s what you need to know about entering Schofield military base. You’ll need specific documents and to follow certain procedures. Below are the steps to ensure a smooth visit.

If You Have a Sponsor and Are Riding With Them

Your sponsor must fill out a sponsorship form.

Bring a valid photo ID.

If You’re Driving Onto Base in Your Own Vehicle

Bring a valid ID, vehicle registration, and proof of insurance. 

Everything must be current

Important Details for Event Access

Enter through the Lyman Gate. You will be going to 604 Ale House.

If you do not hold a military ID, a pass will be provided at the gate.

Doors open at 6 p.m. Fights start at 7 p.m.

Ensure that ALL adult passengers have valid IDs.

Drivers must have a current insurance card, registration, and safety check.

It will take approximately 20 minutes if your papers are in order.

Exceptions

You may be denied access if:

  • You have been previously removed or barred from a base.
  • You are a convicted felon on parole.
  • You lack proper authorization or have a history of gang affiliation.
  • You are a registered sex offender.

REAL ID Act

From October 2021, IDs must comply with the REAL ID Act to access military bases. Compliant IDs must include your full legal name, date of birth, gender, ID number, photo, residence, signature, and security features. Check for a gold icon with a star on your license to ensure compliance. Non-compliant IDs will state “NOT FOR FEDERAL PURPOSES.”

Secondary ID such as a passport or passport card is accepted.
