Honolulu, HI (USA): X-1 World Events, Hawaii’s premier fight promotion, presented “Hyatt vs. Penovaroff” this past Saturday, May 9th at the Kekualokalani Gym in Kailua-Kona, HI. A sold-out crowd was excited about all the MMA fights, as 12 action-packed bouts rocked the venue. Bone-snapping submissions and jaw-shattering KO’s (including an 11-second knockout) were all part of the heart-thumping X-1 action:

In the first fight of the night, featherweight Levi Agcalon submitted Daniel Alcos by armbar from the guard at 2:43 in the 1st round
Welterweights went at it next, as Kaeo Meyers (Kona BC) took the unanimous decision victory over Malu Benedicto (Kanu/ PFC) after three action-packed rounds

It was onto the main card, where featherweight Spencer Higa (HIBC) beat Abe Cortes-Kaleopaa (freelance) by unanimous decision
Super-heavyweight action was up next, as Pat Fuga (Kona BC) took on Mark Smith (Maui Mulisha). At 1:00 of the 1st round, Fuga tapped out due to a combination knee injury/smoother
With the X-1 Bantamweight State title at stake, Dave Moreno (Kohala) secured the belt and victory over Justin Mercado (MMAD) by rear naked choke at 4:18 of the 1st round
The next battle of the night was a lightweight scrap, as Dominic Ahnee (Maui Jiu-Jitsu) won a hard-fought victory over Aleka Rincon (freelance) via majority decision
In the main event of the evening, the X-1 Bantamweight World Championship was on the line, Van Oscar Penovaroff (Kona BC) and Kana Hyatt (MMAD) looked to close out the night on a high note. After back-and-forth action, Penovaroff got the TKO victory by referee stoppage due to punches 3:36 in the 1st round, taking home the X-1 belt with him
